Christmas Light Switch On 2016

On Saturday 12th November, last year’s X Factor finalists and local celebrities – Reggie ‘n’ Bollie returned to Farnborough to join the festive merriment happening in The Meads Shopping Centre. Residents of Farnborough were treated to a spectacular variety show of entertainment at our FREE Christmas Extravaganza event.

The Rock Choir were the first to take the stage. This local choir is 40 strong singers who got the crowd singing and dancing along to their repertoire of classic pop and rock songs. Local dance troupe Spotlite Dance also dazzled shoppers with their lively performance. As well as this, Starburst brought along the stars of their theatre production, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs. Queen Malevolent, Snow White and Dame Do-it-all each sang their hearts out on stage before meeting and greeting with shoppers.  The big stars of the show were Reggie ‘n’ Bollie with their up-beat reggae and R ‘n’ B style. Their twenty minute set included lots of favourites from their time on The X-Factor as well as their brilliant single ‘New Girl’. Hundreds of shoppers turned out to see the dynamic duo perform.

PLUS, a cheeky stilt-walking elf mingled with the crowd and showed off some impressive juggling talents. Plus, The Meads took this opportunity to launch their ‘North Pole Postbox’ and from now until Sunday 11th December, children can write a letter to Father Christmas at this station in the Centre and receive a special reply.

The entertainment continues on Saturday 19th November as a free Christmas craft workshop will be available for children to make a Christmas puppet. While visiting, shoppers will be able to pick up their remaining Christmas gifts from excellent retailers such as Superdrug, Wilko’s, Argos, New Look and many more.
